JOE MASTEN, OWNER
Joe began his Army career in 1986 as a Cryptographic Analyst. During his enlisted career he was assigned to the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment where he served a team leader
in the Fulda Gap as the Cold War was ending. As a rappel master he was the Non Commissioned Officer In Charge of the Rappel Committee for the Blackhorse Air Assault School. He was squad leader and platoon sergeant for the Vigilant Knights of the 513th Military
Intelligence Brigade. In 1995 he returned to civilian life and began a construction company while completing his Bachelor’s degree.
In 2001 he began his Masters in architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After the 9/11 attacks Joe commissioned in the New York Army National Guard as a Tactical
Military Intelligence officer. He served as Executive Officer and Company Commander while in the 42nd Infantry Division. After completing the Captains Career Course Joe was assigned to the 1st Armored Division where he served as Operations Officer, Battalion
Intelligence Officer, Company Commander and Collection Management Officer. Joe’s Overseas tours include Germany, Kuwait, Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan.
Joe married Cristina Contreras in 2012. Cristina is also a veteran having served in the Army as a Morse Intercept Operator, with assignments in Georgia, Korea, and Texas. Joe
and Cristina have a blended family of four children. Jay, Andrew, Danny and Sadie are all an integral part of the JDog family. Jay and wife Meg are actively involved in the day to day operations of JDog North Tampa.
Upon retirement Joe was seeking an opportunity that would enrich the lives of fellow veterans while serving the community. The JDog business model fit perfectly.
