As the son of a career Army Officer, I may have been destined to serve. I was born on Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and grew up around the Army between there and Germany. The Army was in my blood, in high school I participated in Junior ROTC and then in college did ROTC to lock in my path as an officer. After graduating college in 1994, I began my Army career as an Air Defense Artillery Platoon Leader in Fort Hood, Texas, where I deployed to Kuwait for “Intrinsic Action” and supported the First Cavalry Divisions Cavalry Squadron. Four years later I switched over to the Military Intelligence branch where I would live out the rest of my career. In 2005, I left the regular Army for the Oregon Army National Guard as an Active (full-time) guardsman. I then deployed to New Orleans to support the Hurricane Katrina rescue operations where I acted as a “Battle Captain” by coordinating the information and action in the operations center. Less than a year later, we deployed to Afghanistan for a year where I was an operations planner, helping to coordinate the training of Afghanistan’s Army and Police forces throughout the country.

Upon my return from Afghanistan, I spent the next three years as a trainer for the Oregon National Guard, preparing and qualifying many units and individuals to deploy overseas. That knowledge paid off when I was identified to deploy to Iraq as an Embedded Trainer. I spent a year in Iraq as an Intelligence Mentor and Advisor to an Iraqi Infantry Division and Regional Operations Headquarters, which was a fantastic experience.

After returning home in 2011, I spent the final three years of my Army career as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Intelligence for the Oregon Army National Guard. I retired in 2014 after 20 years of serving my country. After a short employment with the City of Portland, Parks and Recreation (and Chairperson for the City of Portland’s Veterans Group; the Veterans Empowerment Team), I found the JDog opportunity. My wife Jennifer, whose mother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather all served in the Navy or Coast Guard, was quick to support the opportunity.

JDog will provide us with an attainable path to small business ownership and allow us to continue serving our community after the service to our nation with a company that truly values the leadership experience, knowledge and skills that military service provides. We look forward to helping you with your removal and hauling needs while providing opportunities to fellow Veterans and donating to Veterans and Veteran associated causes.
