Couch removal: What to Do with Your Old Sofa
Avoid tossing your old couch into a landfill by choosing one of these alternatives
If your living room couch is starting to show signs of wear and tear, it might be time to start looking for a new one. Unfortunately, this leaves you with the unpleasant task of getting rid of your current sofa. Here are some of the options for couch removal.
Sell it
Believe it or not, there are people out there looking to furnish their homes on the cheap. Put up an ad on Craigslist.org or on Facebook Marketplace advertising your old sofa. So the couch is not in terrible shape but sadly the Salvation Army was not able to help you. Well this next option might be a great way to get it off your hands while finding it a second home. If you’re lucky you might end up with some extra cash in your pocket. Craigslist is a great resource for disposing of your unwanted couch. If it happens to be in a good condition you may be able to put a price tag on it, but be prepared for some haggling. You can also list it for free with the stipulation that the receiving party must come pick it up.
Donate it
There’s always someone in need in your community. Call around to see if any thrift stores or charitable organizations could use a sofa. Remember, though, that even charities have their standards. Odors, rips, stains, and other imperfections could result in them declining your kind offer. Also consider coffee shops, community theaters, rec centers, and other places in your neighborhood that could benefit from a gently used sofa.
